Mumbai Strikers rally to secure 3-1 victory against Charkop FC

In the Wednesday afternoon Mumbai Super League Group C clash, Mumbai Strikers overcame an early setback to secure a resounding 3-1 victory against Charkop FC.

With qualification to the playoff round unlikely, both teams entered the game eager to make a statement in the final leg of the competition, trying to finish as high as possible in the league table.

Charkop FC initiated proceedings with a burst of energy, breaking the deadlock within minutes. Soham Bare showcased clinical finishing, firing a precise shot past the opposition’s goalkeeper to put Charkop FC in an early lead.

Undeterred, Mumbai Strikers mounted a spirited comeback, applying constant pressure on Charkop’s defense. Their efforts bore fruit in the 23rd minute when a defensive lapse from Charkop was exploited by Manav, who deftly set up Ananth Kumar for a strike on target, leveling the score.

The second half saw Mumbai Strikers intensify their offensive efforts, leading to a swift reward. In the 57th minute, Ravish Dsouza delivered a well-placed ball into the box, expertly converted by Kishan Dubey to propel Strikers into the lead.

Charkop, eager to mount a resurgence, faced a resilient MSSC defense that thwarted every attacking attempt. Exploiting the opportunities presented, Mumbai Strikers capitalized on a counter-attack in the 82nd minute. Adithya Alkunti’s precise ball found the feet of Harsh Vaghela, who clinically finished to secure a 3-1 victory for Strikers.

The triumph propelled Mumbai Strikers three places up the league table, now standing firm in the 7th spot. Meanwhile Charkop FC remains on 4th spot with 16 points from 10 games.
