Mumbai City secures the signing of Gyamar Nikum

Amidst interest from multiple ISL clubs, Mumbai City FC have confirmed the signing of Rajasthan United youngster Gyamar Nikum on a five-year deal.
The club has reportedly paid an undisclosed fee to Rajasthan United for his signature. The deal also includes a clause in which we will see the player getting a chance to play abroad under the other clubs of the city football group. The transfer is subject to a medical.
The 18-year midfielder burst onto the scene after his heroics in the Durand Cup, which saw him score two goals against heavyweights Mumbai City and ATK Mohun Bagan. He scored the winner against ATK Mohun Bagan in Rajasthan’s 3-2 win in the group stage of the competition.
Following his performance in the cup, several ISL sides were interested in the youngster, with Mumbai City winning the race.
The Arunachal Pradesh-born player made his senior debut in the I-league qualifiers aged 16. He went on to play 14 games in the I-league 2021-22 season, where Rajasthan finished sixth place overall in the table.

Nikum is naturally a right-winger but can also play in a central midfielder role. The 18-year-old is touted to have incredible dribbling skills and also has the confidence to take on players. He can be a troublemaker to opposition defenders with his pace and energy.
Mumbai City are currently the table toppers in the Hero Indian Super League season and have not lost a single game. They have 39 points from 15 games which include 12 wins and 3 draws. The Islanders are also the first team to qualify for the ISL playoffs with 5 games to spare.
