Joyson Chettiar brace helps Mumbai Ultras with 3-0 win over Soccer Saga
In a riveting MFA Super League encounter, Mumbai Ultras continued with their winning form with another resounding 3-0 victory courtesy of Joyson Chettiar brace and a goal from Robert Elangovan.
The game kicked off with Mumbai Ultras setting a blistering pace early in the game, and their efforts found fruition in the 16th minute when Shahid Raju’s precision cross met the head of Joyson Chettiar inside the box, breaking the deadlock with a clinical finish.
The Ultras intensified their assault, doubling their lead in the 23rd minute. Aditya Shah’s pinpoint cross from the left found Robert Elangovan, who volleyed home with finesse, leaving the Saga keeper with no chance.
Soccer Saga attempted a comeback, earning a penalty around the half-hour mark, but Ultras’ custodian Dylan D’lima showcased agility and anticipation, denying the opposition and preserving the 2-0 lead at halftime.
The second half witnessed a spirited Soccer Saga trying to turn the tide, maintaining possession and creating early chances. However, Mumbai Ultras remained unfazed. Joyson Chettiar extended their lead to 3-0 with a spectacular solo effort, starting the attack in his own half, combining brilliantly with Shreyas Zele, and calmly lobbing the ball over the keeper.
Soccer Saga fought back valiantly, with Vipul Lad at the forefront of their efforts. Lad’s attempt from the edge of the box narrowly missed the target. Ultras’ defense, led by Dylan D’lima’s crucial saves, stood firm. Soccer Saga came agonizingly close when Mohd. Jasim Shah’s strike rattled the woodwork, but the resilient Ultras defense ensured the clean sheet.
Despite Soccer Saga’s late surge, Mumbai Ultras emerged victorious with a commanding performance. The well-deserved win reaffirms Mumbai Ultras’ stature as a formidable force in the MFA Super League, setting the stage for more thrilling clashes in the competition.
