WIFA Women’s Football League: S.P. Football Academy win Big, Pacangan & India Rush settle for a draw

Two matches were played in the IWL Qualifiers on Thursday at the Cooperage Stadium.

In the first match, Thane’s S.P. Football Academy faced Palghar based Next Sports Academy. S.P. Football Academy entered the game after their big 4-0 win in the previous match against Pacangan FC. From the first minute, they have shown intense attack, and their captain Delfiya registered her name in the scoresheet in just 3rd minute of the game. Ritika doubled the lead in the 41st minute. In the second half, Neha scored in the 56th and 76th minutes. Delfiya doubled her tally in the 88th-minute. S.P. Football Academy scored 5 goals in full time against Next Sports Academy. With this win, S.P. Football Academy now tops the table with 18 points. PIFA Sports, which sits second, has a game in hand.

In the second match, Pacangan FC took on India Rush. Both the teams got their fair share of chances but failed to capitalize on them as they had to be content with a point each.

Pacangan now has 5 points from 6 matches while India Rush are at the seventh position in the league table with 6 points.

The third match of the day was canceled as Amma FC backed out of the tournament and Footie First got all 3 points by walkover.
