Nishka Prakash scores hat-trick in Kenkre’s come-from-behind victory

Second half blitz of goals blew away Lawless United’s challenge as Kenkre FC registered their second consecutive victory in Match 17 of the WIFA Women’s League

The afternoon game of Matchday 8 of WIFA Women’s Football League saw Kenkre take on Lawless United. The early exchanges saw Kenkre taking the control of ball possession for the most part with lawless rarely getting a chance to even get out of their own half. Kenkre skipper Harshika Jain came closest to scoring from a whipped corner that Lawless Goalkeeper spilled, however, the danger was averted with a quick clearance.

Against the run of play, Lawless managed to find an attacking move with striker Niti Ladha striking a wonderful shot past the Kenkre keeper to break the deadlock and take an unexpected lead. Kenkre resorted to a full-fledged attack with Anay Bai coming close to striking the equalizer when her shot off a free-kick, beat the wall but came off the bar.

In the 35th minute, Nishka Prakash struck a fantastic volley from the left-hand side that finally beat the keeper to find the net as Kenkre drew level. A few moments later, Nishka almost doubled her tally immediately but her shot went inches wide of the post. Both sides entered the break with scores tied at 1-1.

Despite dominating for the most part Kenkre had struggled to find the net. However, their luck changed around the hour mark when Nishka struck her second goal of the game with a shot from 30 yards out.

Striker Ankush then took charge striking two quickfire goals from the right flank as Kenkre took a comfortable 4-1 lead. Looking for her hat-trick, Nishka then drew a diving save from the Lawless keeper. However, she wasn’t to be denied for long as minutes later another volleyed shot went straight into the net as the striker completed a well-deserved hat-trick.

Substitute Krishita Iyer then latched onto a defensive mistake from Lawless United to strike her shot into the empty net to complete a 6-0 rout. Iyer could have doubled her tally minutes later having found herself in a one-on-one situation but her final shot went just wide.

Final Score: Kenkre FC (Nishka Prakash 35’, 60’, 70’, Ankush 63’, 65’, Krishita Iyer 87’) 6 – 1 Lawless United (Niti Ladha 23’)
