Kolkata warming up for FIFA World Cup with ‘Bangla Soccer League’

Bangla Soccer League to reinstate football as ‘Sob Khelar Sera’ just before FIFA 2022

If images of Durga Puja and Rasogolla come immediately to your mind when you hear the name Kolkata, the image of boys playing football at Maidan will not be far behind. Be it over Brazil & Argentina, Manchester United & Liverpool or our very own East Bengal Club & Mohun Bagan AC, the team might change, but the city’s love for the game is constant.

Kolkata shares a unique bond with football that precedes India’s independence. The Calcuttans as a whole are very nostalgic about the game even though cricket is the most popular game across the country. If you are in Bengal, football wins over cricket or as a matter of fact, any other sports hands down. From little children to middle-aged men & women, football is a game that is loved and celebrated no matter what. Football has had its root in Kolkata since the pre-independence period. In fact, football in Bengal was directly associated with the freedom movement. Ever since then, football has never lost its importance and craze in Kolkata.

True, India is yet to secure its foothold at the FIFA World Cup, but that does not stop us from cheering out loud for our favorite teams. The craze for football has always been tremendous in the city and with the WC 2022, right around the corner; the frenzy has reached a new level.

To celebrate this undying love for football, Apollo 24/7 in association with Bangla Soccer League has come up with a unique sporting tournament involving football that aims to amalgamate Football, Tollywood, and Healthcare segments.

The main objective behind the Bangla Soccer League is to rejuvenate Para Football culture and regenerate the nostalgia and passion associated with the game.

With Baichung Bhutia and Prosenjit Chatterjee, two legends in their respective fields are the brand ambassador of this tournament the Bangla Soccer League is all set to create a buzz with a line of activities like quizzes, roadside look walker events to engage the football enthusiasts of the city.

Bangla Soccer League is also excited to announce that for the first time ever, Baichung Bhutia will appear in a music video for Apollo 24।7 Bangla Soccer League.

Kolkata truly is a city of Joy and Football and Apollo 24 | 7 Bangla Soccer League simply plans to bring both these emotions together to celebrate the fact that Football is indeed ‘Sob Khelar Sera’ for every Bangali.
