ISL Transfer Round-up: All completed deals of winter transfer window 2021-22

The first month of the year is gone and the winter transfer window is also closed. As the transfer window shuts off, we are now heading towards the business end of the Hero ISL 2021-22 season. This window has seen teams strengthening their squads ahead of the remainder of the season.

This window saw many players switch sides and move on to their league rivals inside the bio-bubble.

Here’s a detailed look at the incomings and outgoings that happened in the January transfer window.

ATK Mohun Bagan: The continental duties of ATK Mohun Bagan will unfold in the coming months and they are 5th in the table now with 2 games in hand. Keeping this in mind, the Mariners have strengthened their squad. Veteran Goalkeeper Subrata Paul joined ATK Mohun Bagan from Hyderabad FC on loan. India’s star center-back Sandesh Jhingan has made a comeback after a disappointing spell with Croatian side HNK Šibenik.

Bengaluru FC: After a poor start to the season, Bengaluru FC has now found a rhythm. The Marco Pezzaiuoli-led side are now sitting at number four in the league table. On the day of the deadline, the Blues have signed Cameroonian defender Yaya Banana on a short-term deal for the rest of the season. Yaya Banana will replace injured Yrondu Musavu-King in the squad.

Chennaiyin FC: Chennaiyin FC are currently ranked 5th in the table and are eyeing the top 4. Nerijus Valskis made a sensational comeback to Marina Machans after spending a year with Jamshedpur FC. Chennaiyin FC have strengthened their backline with the signing of Mohammad Sajid Dhot from Odisha FC. Lallianzuala Chhangte left the club & joined defending champions Mumbai City FC on loan on the deadline day.

FC Goa: FC Goa made headlines with the signing of Indian Under-17 World Cup star Anwar Ali from Delhi FC. The club signed the Punjab-born defender in November but was only able to join the Gaurs when the transfer window opened in January. In the last week of the January transfer window, winger Redeem Tlang left the club to join Odisha FC on loan.

Hyderabad FC: Hyderabad FC opened its doors for Seityasen Singh. The midfielder joined the Nizams from Kerala Blasters FC.

Jamshedpur FC: Red Miners have picked up Daniel Chima Chukwu from SC East Bengal. The Nigerian center-forward quits SC East Bengal and joins Jamshedpur FC as a replacement for Nerijus Valskis.

Kerala Blasters FC: Kerala Blasters have had a tremendous rise this season. The Blasters have signed free agent and former Chennaiyin FC goalkeeper Karanjit Singh. Sreekuttan VS, Abdul Hakku & Seityasen Singh have all left the club on loan.

Mumbai City FC: Mumbai City FC will debut in the AFC Asian Champions League this season. Brazilian forward Ygor Catatau was replaced by former Odisha FC striker Diego Maurício. Ygor Catatau left the club after his loan spell expired and rejoined his parent club Madureira Esporte Clube. The Islanders signed Lallianzuala Chhangte on loan on the deadline day to intensify their attack.

Northeast United FC: The Highlanders were the most active club in the winter transfer window and added four new foreigners to the squad. Marcelinho joined on loan from I-League outfit Rajasthan United. Free-agent Patrick Flottmann was signed to bolster the defense, he will be joined by Zakaria Diallo in defense who last played for Al-Shabab in Kuwait. Danish midfielder Marco Sahanek has joined and is expected to be the main creative force from mid.

Odisha FC: The change in the hot seat of Odisha FC came after Kino Garcia took over as interim head coach following the club’s split with Kiko Ramirez. Odisha FC has included three players in their squad in the form of Redeem Tlang, right-back Karan Amin and 21-year-old goalkeeper Antonio D’Silva. Vinit Rai, Mohammad Sajid Dhot, and Ravi Kumar are notable departures from the Juggernauts.

SC East Bengal: SC East Bengal had a very busy transfer window with coach Mario Rivera replacing outgoing coach Manolo Diaz after their poor performance in the league. Marcelo dos Santos & Fran Sota joined to bolster their attack. Former I-League champion Naocha Singh signed for SC East Bengal from Mumbai City FC on deadline day to strengthen the backline.
