Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri decides career post football

Indian football team talisman Sunil Chhetri is planning for life after football as he recently enrolled for a Master’s degree in Sports Management from the prestigious ISDE Law Business School. The football team captain will study legal skills and the management of sports.

“Sunil had an illustrious career of more than two decades. It was time for him to look to the future also. A degree in sports management and legal skills will definitely help him in his future endeavours,” a source conveyed to The Telegraph.

Sunil will undertake the course with a 100% scholarship, thanks to FIFPRO – the worldwide representative team for 65,000 professional footballers. FIFPRO, with its global headquarters in Hoofddorp, Netherlands, is made up of 67 national players’ associations. Sunil Chhetri is the Vice President of the Indian arm. His application for the ISDE was backed by the global player representatives.

ISDE, which is based out of the football-loving country of Barcelona, has close links with FIFPro.

Sunil is the third-highest active scorer on the international stage after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. It is intriguing to see that India’s captain has no plans to leave the game. Instead, he is taking firm steps to establish an illustrious career off the pitch, as he had on it.
