From a professional footballer to FIFA commentator: Karan Sawhney on his journey with The Tribe

A football fan since day one, co-founder of The Tribe, Karan Sawhney has been a professional football player for over 16 years and counting. His commentaries are also renowned in the Indian Super League, Asia Cup, and Indian League. Adding another feather to the cap, Karan will be one of the commentators for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Known across the country for his impeccable skills in sports and athletics, Karan’s journey with the Tribe has been an interesting one. He started his own gym named FLC in 2016 and successfully ran it for 5 years. He was able to gain the likes of Hugo Boss, Vogue, Aditya Birla, ASICS Godrej and more. Karan’s all-time motivation has been his grandfather, Madhukar Talkwakar, who not only was the first personal trainer in India but also the owner of the first gym named ‘Talwalkars’. Keeping the ideals of his lineage strong, The Tribe thus embodies the value of health along with fitness, focusing on the overall development of the mind, body, and soul. Starting through virtual classes at the beginning, today The Tribe holds frequent retreats and has an inclusive community.

Being the Speed & Agility and Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Karan has been on and off the field many times, training athletes and 700 fitness enthusiasts from over 23 countries to reach their goals. “Footballers in general require a ton of strength and conditioning, along with building their stamina with world-class nutrition,” Karan mentions, “Great recovery is another key factor considered while training athletes in their specific sports.” The Tribe has worked with Wes Brown on his training and fitness approaches, along with many other sports players since 2020. Karan thus observes the professional ethics he gained during his time playing football, and imbibes it to train his community.

As one of the commentators of the FIFA World Cup, Karan continues to pursue his goal for making a change for millions of people by encouraging them to join the realm of health and fitness with the Tribe.
