Ambernath Utd – Atlanta ride on Arif Shaikh hat trick to continue winning run; Kenkre FC, BoB pick wins

Steven Dias managed side are yet to drop points in the season as AU-A FC beat 2nd placed PIFA Sports to extend the lead at top. Kenkre FC and Bank of Baroda register victories in their respective league game

Ambernath Utd-Atlanta FC remains unstoppable as they complete another dominant display with a 5-0 win over PIFA Sports in their MFA Elite Premier League match, held Monday, 25th April 2022.

The game started with AUA FC on the attack from the word go and in it took them just four minutes to take the lead. Arif Shaikh headed home the opener from Captain Allan Dias cross after some quick passing in the middle. Three minutes later, Cletus Paul provided a brilliant pass for Arif, whose shot beat the keeper to make it 2-0.

PIFA rarely managed to find their groove in the game as Ambernath Utd – Atlanta FC continuously kept the pressure with their high press whenever they were without the ball. Halfway into the first half, Arif completed his hat trick after getting on the pass from Aaron Dcosta. Both sides entered the break with AUA FC leading 3-0.

The second half continued the same story as AUA FC showed no respite in the attack. Around the hour mark, hat-trick hero Arif Shaikh turned provided with his assists. League’s leading goal scorer Alister Anthony, who had been kept quiet by the opposition in the last few games got on his mark with a sublime finish after getting on the end of Arif’s pass. Post the fourth goal, there was an emotional celebration from AUA FC players as a show of solidarity for their fellow player Ajikumar MR, who was hospitalized post the game against Mumbai Strikers SC due to some breathing problem. Ajikumar has since recovered and discharged from the hospital but was not available to play yet.

The final goal of the game came in the injury time when Shravan Shetty made an exquisite run to find Allen’s cross from the left.  Shravan ran past a couple of players before stroking the ball past an onrushing keeper to slot home the fifth goal of the game.

FT: PIFA Sports 0 – 5 Ambernath United – Atlanta FC (Arif Shaikh 4’, 7’, 37’, Alister Anthony 63’, Shravan Shetty 90+2’)

In another game, 2nd half strikes gives Kenkre FC a crucial 2-0 win over DK Pharma FC as they registered back-to-back victories. After a goalless first half, Rohit Jain opened the scoring in the 73rd minute to break the deadlock before Yogesh Kadam’s goal five minutes from fulltime gave them a two-goal cushion.

DK Pharma had their moment in the game but their profligacy in the final third cost them dearly. Despite putting up 14 shots on goals out of which 7 were on target DK Pharma failed to break Kenkre FC’s Ayush Shah and co as the game ended in the latter’s favour

FT: DK Pharma 0 – 2 Kenkre FC (Rohit Jain 73’, Yogesh Kadam 85’)

Meanwhile in Elite Corporate League, Bank of Baroda edge RBI 1-0 courtesy of a second-half own goal from Kalpesh Tandel. The loss ends RBI’s three-game unbeaten streak although they are still placed 2nd in the league table just a point behind league leaders Mumbai Customs.

FT: Bank of Baroda (Kalpesh Tandel 49’ (Own Goal) 1 – 0 RBI
