Air India rides on Abhinav’s late winner to edge Bank of India

Air India picked their 3rd win of the campaign after a close 2-1 win over Bank of India courtesy of Abhinav Sebastin’s late winner in the MFA Elite Corporate League encounter

The game began with Air India starting out with attacking intent. They moved the ball well creating a couple of good chances early in the game.

The pressure paid off when a few minutes before the first half water break Sandesh Malpote broke the deadlock to open the scoring to put Air India in lead. Bank Of India soon settled down and started fashioning their own chances.

In the 40th minute, a defensive error from Air India backline allowed Bank of India attacker Keval Poghdare to capitalize on the mistake and equalize for the bankers. Both sides entered the break with the scores level on 1-1.

In the 2nd half, end-to-end play ensued as both sides looked for goals. As the game progressed, Bank of India started growing into the game, however, their frontline missed a couple of crucial chances to take the lead. BOI were eventually left to rue their misses as late in the game, Air India had the last laugh with the winner.

In the 87th minute, Air India pressed hard to put BOI players under pressure which eventually ended with BOI losing the ball in the middle. Air India capitalized on it to start a brilliant counter-attacking move which ended with Abhinav Sebastian coming up with a clinical finish from the center of the box to make it 2-1.

Bankers tried hard late in the game to pull one back but Air India managed the game well to end the game 2-1 in their favor.

FT: Air India (Sandesh Malpote 14’, Abhinav Sebastian 87’) 2 -1 Bank of India (Keval Poghdare 40’)
