“Tomorrow’s game is a huge challenge for us” – Ogbeche

The Hero Indian Super League clashes have come down to the final battle between the two big teams ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City FC. The final league phase battle will be the decider for the League Shield. The match is scheduled at the GMC Stadium, Bambolim today at 7:30 pm.

Mumbai City FC is looking out for a win so that they can qualify for the AFC Champions League group stage. Whereas, ATK Mohun Bagan will be favoured for the title even with a draw.

Both the teams have been consistent in their games so far. Mumbai City FC had a good lead in the points table in the first leg of the league. The last game of Mumbai City FC against Odisha FC was a big win for Mumbai City FC. Bipin Singh scored his first hat-trick becoming the first Indian player to score a hat-trick in the Indian Super League.

In the last match against ATK Mohun Bagan, the team scored 1-0. Bartholomew Ogbeche scored the goal for the team and grabbed the three points for the team.

“Tonight’s game is a huge challenge for us, and considering all teams, I think in my opinion we as a team have maturity, experience and we always come up for some tough challenges. When one of us is underperforming, we come together and focus on to lift that player. I think that’s togetherness and this has led us this far in the game. We have a very optimistic way of thinking which gives us confidence and we are going to get our desired result and achieve the win and qualify for the AFC Champions League.” quipped Bartholomew Ogbeche.

Sergio Lobera also has the same thoughts and views on Sunday’s match. He also added that “Sunday’s match will be different from the first leg. The first leg was another game where we won three points but tomorrow’s game is a final league game. We need to play and win. We need to manage this situation well. It’s not like the games we played before because it’s not about just the three points, but to win a final.”

In the last match against Odisha FC, Vignesh was a crucial player for the team, however, he will be missing the game against ATK Mohun Bagan due to a Red card. Alongside him, Hugo also will be missing the game due to his ongoing suspension.

In the past Mumbai City FC has faced ATK Mohun Bagan 14 times out of which Mumbai has won 5 times, 4 times drawn and 5 times lost. Indeed, it’s a head-to-head match.

Mumbai City FC has scored 33 goals in total whereas ATK Mohun Bagan has scored 28 goals. Mumbai has conceded a total of 18 goals and ATK Mohun Bagan has conceded 13 goals.
