MFA Women’s League: Footie First to face PIFA in final

Mumbai: Two unbeaten teams, Footie First and PIFA SC, who have proven their mettle since the start of the league deservedly qualify for the MFA Women’s League 2021 Finals.

The day kicked off with an unusual start where the match between Kenkre FC and Footie First got abandoned. Due to injuries, Kenkre FC failed to field minimum squad strength of 7 players, leading to the match getting forfeited. As per rules, Footie First was declared winners and directly qualified for the finals.

The second game of the day witnessed PIFA SC play out a five-star performance vanquishing Indian Rush SC. Bhagwati Chauhan scored a brace followed by a goal from Marbarin Nongrum, which gave PIFA a convincing 3 goal lead at the end of the first half. The second half commenced with PIFA soaring the scoresheet, where Bhagwati completed her hat-trick alongside Sasmita Behera’s goal to book a berth in the final.

The semi-finalists have already qualified for the WIFA Women’s League 2021, the qualifiers for the Hero Indian Women’s League 2021, which is slated to start from 28th March, at the Cooperage Stadium.

PIFA will lock horns against Footie First tomorrow, 26th of March, at the Cooperage Stadium in a battle to clinch the coveted MFA Women’s League trophy.
