Football Delhi 2nd Division I-League Qualifiers : Day 10 Round-up

High scoring matches were seen on the final Group-A matchday of the Delhi League, the 2nd Division Qualifiers. The knockout stage games will start on July 29, at the same location Dr.Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi.
1st match- City Football Club vs Friends United Football Club
The first encounter was between City Football Club and Friends United Football Club, where Friends United didn’t allow City Football to enter their half. The opening goal was scored by Nitesh Sharma in the 7th minute itself, after which he went on to complete his hat-trick in the 70th minute and helped his team to win the game by 4-0. Friends United Captain Kamal Singh also showed his class and scored a cracking 4th goal.
2nd match- Delhi Football Club vs Garhwal Football Club
The second game was a cut-to-cut encounter, where both the teams scored two goals in the given 90 minutes. In the first half, Delhi FC managed to score a goal after a rough challenge by Narayan led to a penalty. Sergio Barboza made no mistake and scored from the spot.
Then came the jaw-dropping second half, where Delhi FC continued their attacking gameplay and opened the scoring line in the 58th minute. Samuel Shadap scored an outstanding goal and helped the team take a two-goal lead. But, Garhwal FC decided not to sit back and aimed for a comeback. All thanks to Carlos’ dribbling and Deependra’s sharpshooting, which resulted in Garhwal’s first goal in the 73rd minute. With just 8 minutes left to finish, Carlos intercepted to win a ball from a DFC defender and shot the ball onto the right bottom corner to equalise against Delhi FC. The game ended 2-2!
All the Group A games are done, and Delhi FC have edged over Garhwal by goal difference. These two teams will play the semis on 29th against the top two teams from Group B.
