WIFA Inter District Women’s Open Championship: Mumbai and Kolhapur qualify for finals

A fascinating Day 4 came to an end with Mumbai and Kolhapur making their way to the finals.

In the semi-final 1, after a strong start by Pune over Mumbai it looked like there was no stopping to Pune. But after the first half, Mumbai came in with a different attitude and confidence, which helped them to level the scoreline. Striker Shrutilaxmi’s brace revived Mumbai’s dream to play the final. Now, in the Penalties, Mumbai’ goalie Kashmira Pednekar saved the day for her team as her two saves assisted Mumbai to victory by a scoreline of 4-2.

In the second semi-final, Kolhapur dominated Buldhana. Kolhapur netted 6 times and the most astonishing thing was Pratiksha Mithari scoring 4 times in the second half! Buldhana tried every way to score, but it just didn’t end the way they wanted. The other two goals were recorded by Saraswati M and Adhika B.

The final match is slated to kick off at 3:15 PM IST today at the Shri Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Stadium, Jalgaon.
