India Khelo Tournament: Funky Boys FC emerge victorious in Mumbai Leg Final Round

An enticing day consisting youngsters engaging with the beautiful game of football ended having Funky Boys FC emerge as the winners of the India Khelo Tournament Mumbai Leg final round.

The 3rd day kicked off in Chembur having 16 participating teams from Mumbai.  KNFC, 11 Star FC, GA Soccer Academy, Sports Ethics FC, India Rush FC, TYSA, Funky Boys FC, Vision Reserve FC, Ambitious FC, Center of Sporting Excellence, Avengers B, Avengers C, Dr Pillai Global Academy,KNFC A, Score Goals, KNFC B took part in the tournament.

In a knockout format, Funky Boys and India Rush SC overcame all the hurdles to qualify for the final. In the final, Funky Boys edged past India Rush to register their name for the National Round to be held later this year in August. Aditya from Funky Boys FC was adjudged as the ‘Best Player’ from the 3rd round and Aditya Srinivasan from India Rush SC bagged the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ accolades.

The tournament was graced by the presence of Advocate Ryan D Menezes (Asst. General Secretary – MDFA and Secretary – Sellebrity FC), Mr Dale D’Souza (Member of the Disciplinary Committee – MDFA, and Founder – Sporting Options Football Club), Mr Stefan Menezes (Co-owner – Sellebrity SC), and Mr Rahul Shelar (General Manager – Parle Agro).

Talking about the event, Mr Menezes explained how initiatives such as India Khelo Football imbibes the culture of football into the young kids. “I think this is a nice initiative for the kids. I congratulate Rohan Shinde and his entire team for managing the event so well. This initiative will provide the kids a platform to showcase their talent, which is very important” quoted Mr Ryan. On the other hand, Mr Dale explained the importance of support from parents. “I’m overwhelmed to witness the support shown by the parents to their young kids. Parent’s role plays a pivotal role in shaping a child’s future in sports. I would urge every parent to keep on supporting and encouraging their ward”

After the completion of the third round and its Mumbai Leg, IKF will now move on to the other parts of Maharashtra starting with Thane next month.
