India Khelo Football Initiative begins January 26th

Aimed at uplifting the standard of football in India, India Khelo Football is an initiative to get hidden talents on field, identify them and give them a platform to become next big thing in Football.
Having grown up together in space constrained city of Mumbai wanting to play football in late 90’s, Harshad Tulaskar and his mates – the founders of India Khelo Football Initiative, found it hard to make it big in the game. Despite managing to build up a small community of footballers, as a young kids they found resistance from almost all quarters in the form of lack of playing grounds, proper infrastructure, irritated and angry neighbors etc. so much so that police got involved in their fight to play the game.
Judging by the lack of opportunities for interested footballers, the now grown up salary earning kids, decided to form a trust and start a new football club in the city and thus SNFC was born. Over the years, the club has managed to enter professional setups and has managed to earn promotion to MDFA 2nd division.
Having risen from ground when there was no grassroots as well the founders of India Khelo Football have hustled their way into Football and have gone through all stages. It is this passion that drives them. With a single point objective being, that no one should face what they faced.
India Khelo Football will aim to get kids on field to play football in a competitive environment. The initiative has 3 stages: Source – providing opportunities, Identify – spot the exciting talents and Platform – provide them the right platform to excel.
In their first season, the movement aims to spread across Maharashtra before heading nationwide next season and aims to reach world stage in five years time. The tournament will be conducted in eight cities in Maharashtra starting from 26 January ‘Republic Day’ and ending on 15 August ‘Independence Day’.
The 8 Cities to be covered in First Season of India Khelo Football are: Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Gondia, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Pune, Nashik. The winner of all the cities will be competing for final trophy on August 15th in Mumbai to become ‘The Champion’.
