Hero I-League 2nd Division: FC Goa Reserves overpower Mumbai City FC Reserves

A sturdy FC Goa Reserves eased past Mumbai City FC Reserves by scoring 3 goals against them at the Nagoa Ground in yesterday’s Hero I-League 2nd Division clash.

After playing 5 matches, Mumbai has only managed to bag 4 points where the team has scored twice and conceded 10 goals. On the other hand, FC Goa has managed to gain 8 points from 4 matches scoring 9 and conceding 4.

FC Goa welcomed back Sarineo Fernandes at left-back and Dylan Da Silva in goal. Since the commencement of the game, FC Goa seemed dominant. Midfielder Kapil Hoble opened the scoring for FC Goa at the 16th minute. Kapil’s solitary goal was the difference between both sides at the end of the first half.

As the second half commenced, things worsened for the visitors. Aaren D’ Silva created an immediate impact as soon as he was brought in at the 54th minute in place of Lalnunzama, who had his debut yesterday. Aaren found himself in a one on one situation immediately after he was introduced to the game. He utilized the opportunity and calmly chipped the ball past Mumbai’s shot-stopper to double the lead.

The Islanders put efforts to get back into the game, but all credits to FC Goa’s keeper Dylan D’Silva, who successfully kept the threats at bay. Sarineo Fernandes put the final nail to the coffin at the 70th minute, as his firing shot found the back of the net.

Mumbai City will play their 6th Group-C fixture against ARA FC at the Cooperage Stadium on 6th of March. The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:30 IST.
