Football Community comes together to fight COVID-19

The Mumbai football fraternity has joined hands to battle the ongoing pandemic in the state of Maharashtra. With the current number exceeding 500+ cases, the entire state of Maharashtra is under lockdown.

During these traumatic times, under the leadership of Hon Minister and WIFA Vice President Shri Aaditya Thackeray and Hon MP Shri Arvind Sawant, several initiatives have been taken to improve the current situation. Under the guidance of Shri Krishna Pawle, Mr Santosh Pawar (Robert), Mr Shakha Pramukh, the local authorities revamped the sanitations in the buildings of Colaba area, Strand Area and Arthur Bunder Road. With the help of Mr Prakash Mirchandani, the initiative has got to masses, and many citizens are benefitting from the same.

On the other hand, Advocate Ryan D Menezes (Asst. General Secretary – MDFA and Secretary – Sellebrity FC) alongside Mr Rohan Shinde (Manager – Sellebrity FC) ensured that a newborn baby in an affected area doesn’t run out of food. Mr Ryan along with his team ensured essential commodities to the old and needy, ambulance services and sanitization of various housing societies complying with the social distancing rules imposed by the Central and State Government.

Community Football Club India and Sporko Sports Academy launched a social media campaign on their motive to spread awareness about the self-quarantine period for Coronavirus. They invited all the stakeholders of the football fraternity to join the campaign. All the budding footballers of the academies, schools and other organizations were urged to send videos of themselves, allowing both the clubs to spread the importance of staying at home during this turbulent time and doing what they love at the same time. The videos included players juggling the ball or doing freestyle of any kind and put it up on Social Media by using the #letskickcoronavirus to reach maximum engagement.
