Bengaluru FC vs. FC Goa: 10 Things to Know About The Game
FC Goa goes into the new year looking to start off on a bright note against Bengaluru FC at the Kanteerava Stadium on Friday night.
Currently sitting at the top of the ISL table, thanks to the ongoing 4-game winning streak, FC Goa will look to set the records straight against Bengaluru. Sergio Lobera’s men haven’t been able to overcome the Blues in their last 4 meetings. However, on Friday, all past records will be forgotten as an in-rhythm FC Goa looks to crash the Bengaluru fortress.
Before the action sets off, here are 10 facts you need to know:
0 – FC Goa is yet to lose an away game this season in the Indian Super League. The Gaurs registered wins at Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai whilst eking out late draws away to Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United.
1 – FC Goa not only holds the no. 1 position in the points’ table, it also leads the league in total wins (6), goals scored (22), passes (4690), shots attempted (136), tackles (381) and touches (6152).
1 – If FC Goa wins on Friday, it will be the first time that the Gaurs will have won 5 games in a row in an ISL season. The club is currently on a 4-game winning streak in the ISL, the second time in the history of the club.
4 – FC Goa haven’t been on the winning side when it comes to games against Bengaluru FC. The Gaurs are winless in their last 4 encounters against the Blues. Carles Cuadrat’s men did the double last season before overcoming the Gaurs in the final of the ISL thanks to a 117th-minute winner. Earlier this season, the two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Fatorda.
5 – The only time the Gaurs won 5 games in a row technically was when Sergio Lobera’s men overcame Chennaiyin FC 3-0 in the season opener. That win came at the back of 4 wins in the 2019 Super Cup.
9 – Ahmed Jahouh’s goal against Chennaiyin FC made him the 9th different goal-scorer for FC Goa this season. Brandon Fernandes, Coro, Carlos Pena, Manvir Singh, Seiminlen Doungel, Hugo Boumous, Mourtada Fall and Lenny Rodrigues have also been on the scoresheet for the Gaurs this season.
15 – No side in the ISL has won more games in 2019 than FC Goa. The Gaurs won a total of 15 games in the calendar year which includes 11 in the ISL and 4 in the Super Cup.
38 – On an average, a touch in every 38 taken by Coro ends in a goal. The Spaniard has taken only 263 touches in the 7 games he has played, scoring 7 goals.
47 – Coro currently sits 2nd in the race for the Golden Boot with 7 strikes. The Spaniard has taken only 15 shots on goal to score the above-said amount – helping him garner a 47% goal conversion rate. Amongst players who have scored 4 goals or more, the closest to Coro’s precision is Roy Krishna, who has a conversion rate of 32%.
66.7 – Hugo Boumous has the best goal contribution rate in the team with a goal contributed every 66.7 minutes played. The Frenchman currently has 3 goals and 4 assists to his name and beats out Ferran Corominas in this regard who has a goal contribution to his name every 72.5 minutes.
