Yogesh strikes brace in CBI’s 3-1 win over Western Railways
Western Railways succumbed to their fourth loss in their last five games as second half brace from Yogesh Kadam hands CBI a 3-1 win.
Both the sides came in to the game on the back of close losses, while CBI gave Air India a scare before succumbing to an agonizing 1-2 loss where they conceded two goals in injury time, Western Railways suffered a shock 0-1 loss against a struggling Dena Bank side.
Playing host at Mahalaxmi ground, Western Railway had a disastrous start when Deepak Pal found the back of the net in the very first minute of the game to give CBI an early lead. The early goal rocked the Western Railway unit as they struggled to knit up good attacking moves to break CBI defence. Western Railway missed the services and creativity of their star player Linekar Machado who joined Income Tax in the transfer window.
Both sides entered the break with scores at 1-0 in favour of away side. Western Railway started the second half positively and were soon rewarded with the goal in the 55th minute through Mervin’s strike. However, Yogesh Kadam put CBI back in front in the 67th minute before putting the game to bed with his 82nd minute strike.
The win has propelled CBI to fifth spot with 11 points from 7 games while Western Railway remained rooted at 4th spot with 15 points from after 11 games.
