Union Bank of India to conduct trials for upcoming MDFA Elite Division campaign

MDFA Elite Division team Union Bank of India (UBI) will be conducting football trails for their upcoming 2019-20 campaign

One of the top clubs of Mumbai Football, Union Bank of India (UBI) will be conducting football trails for their upcoming 2019-20 MDFA Elite Division campaign

After finishing mid-table last season the club will looking to challenge for the top four slot this season. The side won 4 games and drew 2 matches during their campaign missing the top 4 slot by a margin of just four points and thereby failing to make it through to the play-off round.

One of the top teams of Mumbai Football, Union Bank is renowned for grooming and providing the necessary platforms for young and upcoming players. Former India Internationals Steven Dias, Khalid Siddique, Mervin Stephens, Gaston Dsilva, Ryan Dsouza (Currently coach of UBI) and national level players like Vijith Shetty, Dion Menezes, Benoy kuruvilla, Lineker Machado, Aaron Dcosta, Shravan shetty, etc have all represented UBI at some level. In all probability, players representing UBI are more likely to sign a professional contract down the line. Ranjit Pandre one of the standout performers for the club last season, has went on to sign for I league side Chennai City FC while few others have went on to play in the prestigious Santosh Trophy.

Another player who has been instrumental in UBI’s success over the years is Jillian D’Silva. Having represented the club for around one and half decades both as a player and Coach, Jillian has dedicated most of his career in the betterment of the club.

Barring last season where they missed the play-off berth by just 4 points, Union Bank of India has always hovered around the top half of the MDFA Elite Division league table, with their best run in recent times being the third place finish two seasons ago.

Speaking to footballcounter.com, Coach Ryan Dsouza stated, “The team runs on the Philosophy of creating opportunities for players to achieve their dreams by providing overall development through the best training methods, a disciplined competitive environment, a learning platform and motivation with a vision for a better tomorrow”

Last season the team had lifted All India Hot Weather Football Tournament also known as ‘ONGC Trophy’ which had institutional sides from all over the country.
