Super Division: ICL Payyade and FC Pune City takes all three points

17th March 2019, Mumbai: On Sunday, MDFA Super Division (Super Six Stage) games were played at the Neville D’Souza Ground, Bandra. ICL Payyade faced Chheda Nagar while Juhu Sparks encountered FC Pune City. ICL thumped Chheda Nagar, whereas, FC Pune City had to dig deep to grind out a win against Juhu Sparks to kick-start their Super Six phase with a win.
Chheda Nagar 0-6 ICL Payyade (Michael Idewele 20′, 22′, & 62′, Aaron 60, Asadul Khan 67′ & 89′)
Former KSA striker Michael Idewele left no stones unturned against Chheda Nagar to rip them apart with a spectacular hat-trick. Chheda Nagar hardly created any openings throughout the game and sat back which turned out to be a fatal decision.
Michael’s first-half brace had already given ICL Payyade an upper hand going into the break. In the second-half, rather than sitting deep and shielding their two-goal lead, ICL pushed forward to find more goals. Michael went on to complete his hat-trick while Asadul (2) and Aaron also contributed to seal a deserving 6-0 win.
Juhu Sparks (Prathamesh Kamble) 2-3 FC Pune City (Akhil Rawat x 2 & Hranghmingtham)
In the second game, FC Pune City had to fight until the final whistle to record a 3-2 win against Juhu Sparks. Despite dominating for the larger part of the game, Juhu Sparks’ second-half display almost ruined FC Pune City’s day.
Akhil Rawat scored two first-half goals for FCP before Prathamesh Kamble cut short the deficit for Juhu Sparks in the 51st minute. But just a minute later, Hranghmingtham restored Pune’s two-goal lead.
Juhu Sparks just didn’t let go and kept knocking on Pune’s doors. Prathamesh scored again to cut the deficit to just one goal but somehow the Orange Army held their nerves to win in the end.
