Super Division: Four star Pune City romp home against ESIC
Mumbai, February 22, 2019: FC Pune City had a walk in the park as they waltzed to a 4-1 win against ESIC at the Neville D’Souza Ground on Friday.
They worked the ball around and displayed superb coordination and team chemistry in the emphatic win. Barring a few chances ESIC struggled to break past Pune City’s stubborn defending.
ESIC custodian Darshan Das kept the scoreline at 4-1 thanks to a string of fine saves.
Pune City scored in the 10th minute after Nikhil Prabhu controlled a long ball and hit home from the left. The floodgates had opened!
It was two-nil as Laldawnkima Lalngaihawma tapped home from the simplest of finishes in the 20th minute. At that point, Pune City was winning on a canter! The long balls and passes were a delight for purists!
Lalngaihawma tormented ESIC in the center of attack and created umpteen chances throughout the game. Mark Zothanpuia scored an easy goal and made it 3-0 in the 34th minute. Pune City was on a roll at that point!
N. Leisemba Meetel was a terror on the left flank as he harried ESIC with his speed. The first half finished 3-0 to Pune City with ESIC seemingly out of ideas.
They got a goal back through Sachin More in the 59th minute to raise hopes of a comeback.
Malcom Blakely was denied by a brilliant save by the Pune City custodian in the 73rd minute. Some goal it would have been!
Pune City put the game to bed in the dying minutes as C. Johnson Singh slammed in from long range.
A wholly deserved win!
