Super Division: CFCI ride on Manghi’s pace to demolish Veniza

Mumbai, 28th January 2019: CFCI U-19 turned on the style to demolish Veniza Virar FC 5-1 in their MDFA Super Division Game at the Neville D’Souza Ground on Monday.

CFCI was rock-solid at the back and it showed in the final score.

The signs were already there as Leander Gonsalves almost scored with a blaster from 30 yards out!

Veniza had two good chances gone to waste in the first-half. Shantanu Gaikwad’s shot from the left of the box whizzed past the far post. Andre Fernandes lobbed over from 20 yards out.

Shreyas Sail hit home a header in the 32nd minute to give CFCI the lead. Punishment for wastefulness!

Manan Dang impressed for CFCI thanks to a rock-solid performance in midfield.

Shivansu Rao doubled the lead with a long-range shot in the 44th minute.

Lekhraj Kotian chipped in from the left of the box in the 47th minute to reduce the arrears for Veniza.

Mikail Kazi scored off a corner in the 58th minute to make it 3-1. The bubble of optimism had burst for Veniza!

Aman Manghi’s 40-yard sprint into the Veniza box had the crowd on its feet! A pity he could not apply the desired finish!

Manghi’s pace on the right flank caused Veniza’s defenders all sorts of problems. They were on their toes throughout!

Armasah Ansari thumped in a superb shot from outside the box to make it 4-1.

Ashley Koli’s freekick cannoned off the post and almost made it five for CFCI.

Gaikwad’s missed header from inside the box was one of the very few chances that Venezia had.

Saif Bagkari’s goal off a deflected shot made it 5-1 in the 87th minute. He had battered his way into the box to leave the goalkeeper for dead!

Michael Gabriel’s tireless performance was a huge plus for Veniza.
