Super Division: Springfield ride on Kataria-Amin heroics to down RBI

Mumbai, 28th January, 2019: Dinesh Kataria and Sunny Amin were on song as Springfield FA beat RBI 2-0 in their MDFA Super Division game at the Neville D’souza Ground on Monday.

The early part of the game was a midfield battle as both teams played it safe.

Springfield almost broke the deadlock if it weren’t for Arman Jirait’s miss from close range.

But then they drew first blood as Dinesh Kataria clinically finished off a fine move in the 35th minute.

RBI despite working hard throughout was still playing catch up till half-time.

Getting past the Springfield back-line was proving to be a task in itself!

They did have their chances in the second half as Aaron Machado’s shot hit the underside of the bar.

Rohit Pillai — RBI’s best player of the game — missed out on scoring off the rebound!

Springfield counterattacked and scored a second as Sunny Amin darted into the box and smashed home from a tight angle in the 45th minute.

Jirait was a thorn in RBI’s flesh as he harried their defenders with pace and intelligent passing. He almost made it three-nil only for his shot to go over the bar. RBI pressed on for a consolation goal…but in vain.

The 2-0 scoreline was justified in the end as Springfield scored when it mattered the most.

The game had two water breaks thanks to the unrelenting heat which had sapped off the players.
