Rayyan’s second-half strike salvage a point for Millat FC

Millat FC Rayyan

21st February 2019, Mumbai: On Thursday morning, Salcette locked horns against an energetic Millat FC side in the MDFA Elite Division (Private Group) clash at the Cooperage Stadium. Both the sides fought hard as Rayyan Sheikh’s strike in the second-half salvaged a draw for Millat FC in an eventful game.

Millat FC headed into the game being the favorites over an underwhelming Salcette FC. The latter had a point to prove after a slow start. It wasn’t the game Millat hoped for as they found themselves behind but managed to rescue a point against a fired up Salcette.

The majority of the match was dominated by Millat. They created several opportunities but couldn’t manage to find the back of the net. On the other end, Salcette defended brilliantly. The backline kept Millat’s attack at bay. Although it was Salcette who broke the deadlock against the run of play.

In the 51st minute, Sahil Mukane gave Salcette a huge breakthrough with a wonderful finish. But Millat responded brilliantly. Rayyan Sheikh, who has always been a clutch player, had to show his attacking instinct in front of the goal to level the score.

Millat could have won in the last stages of the encounter but Salcette somehow kept their composure and held them 1-1. Had not for Rayyan’s brilliance, it could have been a huge upset for the former Super Division side.
