MDFA: Mumbai Strikers clinch a narrow win against G.M. Sports Club

Mumbai Strikers played with plenty of determination and managed to snatch a narrow 1-0 win against a spirited G.M. Sports Club in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Wednesday.

After a barren first half, striker Akshay Devadiga succeeded in scoring the decisive winner in the 61^st minute to help Mumbai Strikers clinch a close win and collect all the three points.

Earlier, Springfield FC got the better of Sunday Boys by a 3-2 margin in a first round match of the Mohammed Hussain Memorial knockout football tournament for Super Division clubs. Strikers Sunny Amin (2 goals) and Raveen Muntha scored for Springfield, while Ganesh Shetty struck both the goals for Sunday Boys.

In another match, Kenkre FC ‘B’ blanked Central Railway Mumbai Division by a comfortable 2-0 margin. Nathan Murzello and Sylvester Serrao scored a goal each for the winning side,

Results – Super Division knockout (1^st round): Springfield SC 3 (Sunny Amin 2, Raveen Muntha) beat Sunday Boys 2 (Ganesh Shetty 2).

Kenkre FC ‘B’ 2 (Nathan Murzello, Sylvester Serrao) beat Central Railway Mumbai Division 0.

Elite Division: Mumbai Strikers 1 (Akshay Devadiga 61^st) beat G.M. Sports Club 0.
