India beat Hungary for a consolation win as they bow out of Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five World Finals

Kalina Rangers representing India beat Hungary in their final group game but losses against Angola and Spain earlier was enough to knock them out

Kalina Rangers representing India beat Hungary in the final group game but losses against Angola and Spain earlier was enough to knock them out of the competition.

Placed in Group C against the likes of Spain, Hungary, Angola and Luxembourg, India end their campaign with a win a draw and 2 loss to bow out of the tournament in the group stage.

Kalina Rangers the National winners of India Qualifiers started off brightly, taking a 1-0 lead early in their opening game against Luxembourg. However a late goal by the Luxembourg meant the game ended at 1-1 draw. After the draw against Luxembourg, two back to back heartbreaking losses followed against Angola and Spain ending the teams knock out chances.

Despite the loss, the 5-0 score line doesn’t tell the full picture as Indian players gave a tough fight in both the encounters, however the game’s rule of a player walking out every time a goal is conceded makes it tough for any team to remain in the game once they conceded two goals.

However, India defeated Hungry 2-1 in their final group game to end their Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five campaign on a good note. Tyson opened the scoring with a neat finish from the right side, where he managed to find the net from a very tight angle. Few minutes later, Henderson Dias doubled the lead when he chested ball inside the  D, towards the goal as it rolled into the net to make it 2-0. Hungary pulled one back late in the game but India held on to their lead to end their bittersweet campaign on a happier note.
