Gokulam Kerala emerge victorious against Indian Airforce by 3-0 scoreline

14th August 2019, Howrah Stadium, West Bengal: When Marcus Joseph, the Trinidad and Tobago import for Gokulam Kerala FC took a long shot in the 7th minute of the match, which just went over the goal post, spectators and the management staff of GKFC knew he is playing with intent.

Within a few seconds of commencement, Gokulam would have made an early lead from a shot of Malemnganba, but a superb effort from the Air Force shot-stopper, Shibinraj saw the ball travel over the bar. Gokulam Kerala was running the show as they launched numerous attacks before the first half concluded. Just a couple of minutes before half time, Marcus Joseph, the hero of the previous game, became the super-hero today by scoring a brilliant goal from a long-range. The first half concluded by a solitary goal for Gokulam Kerala FC.

The second half commenced seeing GKFC being the dominant side on the field. In the 56th minute, Joseph took another shot. Airforce keeper Shibinraj was close from having his hands on the ball, but unfortunately, the ball slipped off his hands and Shibil Muhammed of Gokulam Kerala made no mistake in guiding the ball back into the net from the rebound. The third goal for GKFC came from the talisman again. A calm and composed Joseph scored his second, in the concluding minute of the match.  At the 86th minute, Joseph completed his brace, thus giving Gokulam Kerala FC the match-winning lead and a consecutive win in this year’s Durand Cup. The match ended by a margin of 3-0 in GKFC’s favour.

Air Force will meet Chennaiyin at the Mohun Bagan ground while Gokulam will face TRAU at the Howrah Stadium, on August 18.
