Footie First – Selections Announced for 2nd Division Team

Footie First may have been last season’s MDFA 3rd Division Champions, but a new challenge beckons in the 2nd Division this year.

As their coach, Ajendra Tripathi says, “What’s over is history. Now we are looking to build on the progress we’ve made as a team and an academy.”

While those in the know will appreciate the magnitude of winning the 3rd Division MDFA title, the 2nd Division is sure to ask new questions of the team’s ability to adapt to a higher standard of competition. Speaking about the squad, Tripathi said, “We will maintain the core of the team that has brought us this far. But we are certainly looking to add players who will bring steel to the defence and firepower in attack.” Adding to this, Academy Director, Ajeya Row said, “More than just adding good footballers, we want to recruit talented players who share our club values of respect, hard work and discipline.”

For players, the trials present an opportunity to play for a club that goes about its work in a professional manner. Despite not being able to pay players a salary, the club takes great care to ensure that adequate facilities are provided to the team. A key Footie First winger from last season’s triumph, Neel Pandya said, “It’s always a good feeling to know that you represent a club where your efforts are valued.”
