Constantine resigns after India gets knocked out of AFC Asian Cup

Indian national football team coach Stephen Constantine resigned from his position after India were knocked out of the AFC Asian Cup 2019.

Despite a draw being enough for ensuring qualification, India ended their afc asian cup campaign after a disheartening 1-0 loss to Bahrain.

Stephen Constantine, who had earlier received lot of flaks for his team selections and playing style decided to step down on an immediate effect.

Speaking to the press Constantine stated, “I feel my cycle here is finished. I have left the players here in a much better place than when I arrived”

Constantine took reigns if this team back in 2015, after overseeing a disastrous FIFA World Cup 2018 qualification campaign, he turned things around guiding India to its only fourth a AFC Asian Cup appearance.

After guiding India to its first ever victory in the tournament in over 55 years few days ago, India Head coach beleived his team was capable of knockout rounds. However with this loss, Constantine has decided to step down leaving the press conference with tears in his eyes.
