CFCI defeats GM while Millat FC knock down Sellebrity

CFCI players celebrate a goal against GM

2nd April 2019, Mumbai: Over the last few days, handful of MDFA Elite Division games were scheduled, remarkably out of four games only two were played. GM finally suffered a defeat after a tremendous run of winning streak as they lost to CFCI while Millat FC knocked down Sellebrity 4-0 at the Neville D’Souza Ground, Bandra.

Apart from these two games, Kenkre FC vs Rhema and U Mumba vs PIFA were scheduled as well. But Rhema and PIFA were not able to field even eleven players for the game which made the officials abandoned the game. According to Footballcounter sources, Kenkre FC and U Mumba will be given a walkover. A meeting to decide the same will be held by MDFA committee in a couple of days.

The game between GM and CFCI was one of the most entertaining games of the season. GM headed to the match on the back of sensational undefeated streak but CFCI displayed a commendable performance to inflict a defeat on a strong and young GM side.

Ashish Pawaskar opened the scoring in the first-half with a long-range screamer. The former KSA full-back took his time and unleashed a curler into the back of the net. It was a rough day for GM as they saw two of their players, Ravinder and Arbaz, was sent off. Sudhakar Ranjan leveled the score for GM in the 50th minute before Reshon Sam restored the lead with a glancing header just five minutes later to seal the game.

In the other group game, Millat FC brushed past Sellebrity 4-0 as they return to their blistering form. Right from the beginning, Millat FC looked in firm control and never allowed Sellebrity to utilize the tight spaces.

Dylan Monterio opened the scoring before Tanzeer Bhojani doubled the lead. Later in the match, Baven Parmar and Adnan Ishke chipped in a goal each to complete a terrific 4-0 win.
