Catholic Gymkhana score narrow victory
Mumbai, August 8: Catholic Gymkhana produced a good fighting display and managed to overcome Classic Sports Club by a narrow 2-1 margin in a well-contested First Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Thursday.
Against the run of play striker Bhavik Meher hit the target in the 13th minute put Catholic Gymkhana in the lead, which they maintained till the break.
On resumption, Classic Sports Club restored parity when Salik Ansari converted a penalty in the 62nd minute. But, Catholic Gymkhana regained the lead when striker Bazil D’Cunha scored the second goal in the 70th minute and secure the win and the three points.
Meanwhile, Future Stars SC had things much their own way and stormed to a 3-0 win against Millat FC Youth in a Third Division match at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel. Curren Rosario, Jignesh Solanki and Russell Rosario, all scored a goal each to complete Future Stars win.
