Veterans Football Tournament to return on Republic Day

KSA organized Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial Veterans Football Tournament 2018 will commence on 26th January 2018.

Maharaja XI defeated Reserve Bank of India 2-0 in the final of the Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial Veterans’ Football Tournament 2017, conducted by the KSA and played at their ground, Cross Maidan.

Mumbai: The Karnataka Sporting Association is organizing Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial Veterans Football Tournament 2018 from 26th January 2018 to 3rd February 2018 at Karnataka Sporting Association (KSA) ground, Cross Maidan, Mumbai.

This is the 2nd edition of the tournament with Air India (Maharaja XI) lifting the trophy in the Inaugural one, defeating Reserve Bank of India 2-0 in the final. Shri Ravi Anchan, brother of Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan is the main sponsor of this tournament. This tournament is open for all the veteran players or football enthusiasts and as seen a good number of participants including some Ex-India players, in the previous edition. These former player have shown a lot of enthusiasm in the last season with age being just a number for them.

A total of 16 teams will be taking part in this year’s tournament with age eligibility of players being 45 years and above. These 16 teams will be further divided in to 4 groups with each group comprising of 4 teams. Entry fees for each teams will be Rs. 7000/-. Tournament will kick-off on this Republic day i.e. 26th January 2018 at 8.00 A.M. Three matches will be played in a day.  Winners, Runners & 3rd placed teams will be rewarded with a prize money of Rs. 50000/, Rs. 35000/- & Rs. 15000/- respectively. Even the 4th placed team would be receiving some attractive prizes for their hard work.

Entry forms can be collected from the KSA Office. Last date for submitting Entry form is 15thJanuary 2018 till 6.00 p.m.
