Three goalless draws at Parel on Sunday
20th January 2018, Mumbai: A total of three games were played at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel on Sunday which witnessed two MDFA Third Division matches and a First Division match. Interestingly, the last day of the weekend turned out to be a dull affair as all the three matches ended in a goalless draw.
First Division
In the only First Division match, Vallankanni Boys played out a 0-0 draw against BSF (B) in an anticipating Group D encounter at St. Xavier’s Ground.
Both the outfits had enough opportunities to open the scoring but their poor finishing in front of goal hardly made any significant impact as they settle for a point. This result halted Vallankanni’s four-match winning streak but they are still sitting at the top of Group C with 13 points.
Third Division
In the lowest Division of MDFA, two matches went ahead on Sunday. Pioneer Residency encountered Kapadia Nagar while Anushakti SA faced Indian Ex-Service Man.
Just like the First Division game, both the games ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Once again, it was the lack of killer instinct in front of goal which proved out to be a talking point of the day.
On a positive note, in both the games, the defence stood out and performed brilliantly throughout the match. The attack on either side failed to break defenders resilience who hardly had a foot wrong in the whole match.
