Super Division: Air India Youth and Central Railway into the semis

25th April 2018, Mumbai: On Wednesday, two MDFA Super Division play-off matches were contested at the Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. Air India Youth Team faced Dena Bank while Central Railway encountered FSI Seaview in the other Group A game. Air India Youth and Central Railway have booked their place in the Super Division semi-finals with a crucial win, whereas, Dena Bank and FSI Seaview had to settle for the 3rd and 4th spot, respectively.

Air India Youth (Dinesh Kataria 23′) 1-0 Dena Bank  

Dena Bank missed a golden opportunity to seal a place in the Super Division semi-finals as they lost 1-0 at the hands of Air India Youth Team at the Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. With this win, Air India recorded their third straight win in the play-off, topping the group with three wins in as many games.

The goal came in the 23rd minute when Dinesh Kataria scored a sublime goal to put Air India’s noses in front. His strike turned out to be the decisive goal as Air India prevailed.

Central Railway 3-2 FSI Seaview 

In the other Group A game, FSI Seaview who led twice in the match lost 3-2 to Central Railway and finished their campaign at the bottom of the group. With this win, Central Railway finished second in the table with six points.

Akshay Kamble, Sajandeep Singh and Sumeet KS scored apiece for the Railways. Seaview lacked experience which cost them the match but irrespective of the loss, they had an amazing season.
