SRS Sporting moves to top of the table in 2nd division while KSA U-17 lost out to United Villagers

1st February 2018, Mumbai: A total of three MDFA (Mumbai  District Football Association) matches took place today, here, at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. SRS Sporting Skills PVT Ltd notched up yet another victory extending their unbeaten streak, in a 2nd division group B clash against Fire Dragon; while in 3rd division play-off deciders, Youth Soccer Academy held off Ruffians FC  to a goalless draw and KSA U-17 lost to United Villagers Wel. Asso. 

2nd Div. Group B league match – SRS Sporting Skills PVT Ltd  1 – 0  Fire Dragon

It was the occasion for 2nd division league match when SRS Sporting and Fire Dragon clashed in the afternoon match. Ashish Dage scored the only goal of the match enabling SRS Sporting to continue their unbeaten streak this season by peeping Fire Dragon 1-0.

Pradeep Kumar, who effected the assist was vibrant throughout the encounter and was at the helm of ball distribution. SRS Sporting seemed to have the control of the game most of the time, but Fire Dragon tried to pounce on every given opportunity but couldn’t find an equalizer. SRS SS also had a goal disallowed by the referee due to offside.

The goalscorer Ashish Dage along with Aneesh Bansod, Pradeep Kumar and Darshan Jagtap combined very well early in the second half where they created numerous opportunities in Fire Dragon’s box. Neel Dave the Fire Dragon keeper was super agile as he thwarted Ashish Dage twice with a double save as Darshan and Aneesh troubling him a couple of times.

As the game rolled towards its end, Fire Dragon pushed forward to wrap up the game. With this win, SRS SP leapfrogged to the top of the ladder in group B standings extending their unbeaten streak to 6 games where they have collected 16 points in the process. Fire Dragon dropped to 7th position with their 5th defeat in 7 matches having 4 points.

3rd Division Playoff  –KSA U-17  0-2 United Villagers Welfare Association

United Villagers Wel. Asso. peeped KSA U-17 2-0 to qualify for the knock-out stage being the group toppers. They now stand at the top in group C with 6 points from 3 games booking their slots for the knockout stage, while KSA U-17 suffered their first defeat in the play-off stage which halted their short 2 games unbeaten streak. KSA U-17 now sits at the third position of the table as their wish to qualify further might not be realized in all probabilities.

3rd Division Play-off- Youth Soccer Academy (Bandra) 0-0 Ruffians FC (A)

In a Group A affair of 3rd division playoffs, Youth Soccer Academy (Bandra) and Ruffians FC (A) played out a goalless draw. Temper rose high with the stature of the deciding game as Calvin Pledade and Nishant Singh got red cards. It was reported that the latter got suspended for the match due to a serious violation of proper conduct depicting abusive attitude. Though, with this stalemate, Ruffians, FC (A) finished just one point ahead of Youth Soccer Academy with 5 points from 3 matches and kept their hopes of qualifying for knockout stage alive.
