Skorost and Atlanta in First Division’s semis

4th April 2018, Mumbai: The quarter-finals of MDFA First Division got underway on Wednesday. Skorost United FC faced Veniza Vihar while Atlanta locked horns against Tarun Sporting at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. Skorost and Atlanta displayed a determined performance as they won their respective games to qualify for the First Division semi-finals.

Skorost United FC (Shubham Varma 20′, Abhay Amin 33′, 37′ & 45′) 4-2 Veniza Vihar (Rahul Bhosale 39′ and Abraham Jimmy 70′)

A terrific fifteen-minutes hat-trick from Abhay Amin made the difference between both the sides as Skorost United FC romped to a 4-2 victory to book their berth in the semi-final. Shubham Varma had opened the scoring in the 20th minute for Skorost. As the match proceeded, Abhay started to run riot in front of Veniza’s defence. He doubled the lead in the 33rd minute before netting the third goal just four minutes later.

Rahul Bhosale did cut short the deficit for Veniza in the 39th minute but Abhay scored once again to complete his hat-trick and restore the three-goal lead. Veniza’s Abhay scored their second goal in the 70th minute but the damage had been already done as Skorost prevailed.

Atlanta (Kazi Huzan 12, Prashant Anchan 54′ and Roysten Veigas 60′) 3-2 Tarun Sporting (Souvik Tripathy 26′ and Kaushal Meher 44′)

In the second quarter-final, Atlanta overcame a tough test to derail Tarun Sporting 3-2 after being down 2-1 at the break. Kazi gave Atlanta a solitary lead in the 12th minute before Souvik and Kaushal scored one goal each to put Tarun Sporting 2-1 in front.

But Atlanta responded well in the second-half. Prashant and Roysten scored two goals within the space of six minutes to complete the turnaround and seal a place in the semis.
