PIFA ends their season with a 1-0 win over CBI

11th April 2018, Mumbai: After a poor start in the ongoing season, PIFA Colaba picked up crucial points in the last phase of MDFA Elite Division campaign to finish seventh in the table. The energetic PIFA Colaba defeated an underwhelming Central Bank of India (CBI) 1-0 to register their third win of the season at the Cooperage Stadium, Churchgate.

On the other end, Central Bank of India (CBI) finished their season third from bottom after a series of unacceptable losses over the course of the season. The Bankers were able to win only two games in their eleven outings, scoring just six times, the lowest in the league.

After a steady start by both the sides, PIFA took control of the match proceedings and displayed their tenacity and hunger to put one in the back of the net. Aditya Dalvi and Kamran Ansari combined pretty well throughout the game but it was right back Nikhil Prabhu who went onto found the back of the net with a sublime effort. At the break, PIFA were 1-0 up.

Throughout the season, CBI has performed miserably when they are attacking. Their poor finishing has been one of the major talking points this season. They struggled yesterday as well which came back to haunt them just like in their previous games. PIFA defended well in the last quarter of the game. Man-marking and game reading from PIFA’s backline were very instrumental as they went onto defend their solitary lead and end their season on a positive note.
