Mumbai lads enter the semifinals with a gritty win over Jalgaon

Mumbai Sub-juniors (U14) side continued their victorious run in the Maharashtra Inter-district Football Championship as they defeated Jalgaon with a hard-earned 1-0 win.

The Mumbaikars played in a rain-soaked atmosphere as the side from Jalgaon gave a tough fight to the young lads.

Mumbai began on a strong note in the match and moved the ball around well but the Jalgaon defence was upto the task. The Mumbai attackers struggled to break down the Jalgaon attack in the first fifteen minutes of the match.

Mumbai’s Karan Prajapati scored the goal in the 17th minute with a well-taken effort from outside the box as the Jalgaon defence was breached for the first time in the match. At the half time whistle, the score was 1-0 in favour of the Mumbaikars.

The second half began in the same theme as Jalgaon sat back to defend and attacked only on the counter. Mumbai side was set up well to recover the counters and kept attacking from all the sides.

The Jalgaon side held well to keep the score at 1-0 as the Mumbai lads emerged victorious and entered the final four of the tournament.

Mumbai take on Akola in the semifinals that will take place on 15th February at the Nanded District Football Association Ground in Nanded.
