Mother Teresa Foundation to play Silver Innings FC in 2nd Division semis

28th March 2018, Mumbai: The third and fourth quarter-finals of MDFA Second Division was concluded on Wednesday, under the floodlights, at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. Maurya Youngstar and Mother Teresa Foundation emerged as the winners and have set up a semi-final clash against JMJ Sports and Silver Innings FC respectively.

Maurya Youngstar FA (Keegan Fernandes 23′ & 25′, Brendon D’Souza, Azariah Thandli 45′ and Rahul Mathew 46′) 5-0 KNFC

In the third quarter-final fixture, Maurya Youngstar rose to the occasion to complete a resounding 5-0 win against a high-flying KNFC side on Wednesday night. Continuing their fine run of form, Maurya left no stones unturned as their free-flowing attacking football helped them to bag a total of five goals.

Keegan Fernandes scored twice within the space of two minutes, whereas, Brendon D’Souza, Azariah Thandli and Rahul Mathew scored apiece in a memorable victory. Irrespective of the loss, Salim Khan’s side has gained a promotion to First Division which is quite astonishing if you consider that KNFC ‘B’ has also gained promotion from 3rd Division to 2nd Division. Overall, a successful 2017-18 season for Salim Khan and his boys.

Mother Teresa Foundation (Karmesh Pakori 7′ and Divesh Koli 65′) 2-1 Bombay YMCA (Umair Ansari 8′)

The fourth quarter-final turned out to be an eventful game with Mother Teresa Foundation edging past Bombay YMCA 2-1 to book a semi-final clash against Silver Inning FC, joining JMJ Sports Club and Maurya Youngstar in the semis.

Karmesh Pakori opened the scoring in the seventh minute for Mother Teresa Foundation before Umair Ansari levelled the score just a minute later with a wonderful strike. With the match headed towards a penalty shootout, Divesh Koli scored in the last five minutes to seal a sensational win for his side.
