Kerala Blasters sign Dheeraj Singh

The shot-stopper impressed one and all in the FIFA U-17 World Cup

Kerala Blasters have secured the services of Indian youngster Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem, the club officially confirmed it via their twitter handle.

Dheeraj Singh was Indian Football Team’s shot-stopper in the FIFA U-17 World Cup held the previous year. Even though India failed to register any victories, Dheeraj was impressive between the sticks.

Despite receiving offers from multiple ISL clubs, he decided to join Indian Arrows until the end of 2018. After that, Dheeraj Singh joined Blasters’ camp and trained there until he got his UK Visa. The presence of David James and other experienced players was the reason why Dheeraj joined Kerala despite having many other offers.

However, Dheeraj then went on to join Scottish club Motherwell FC on a trial. After impressing the club, he even played in their practise matches. The club offered him a 3-year-contract. But, strict rules and regulations in the UK, regarding working permit has forced both the parties to pen a contract later.

This has made him join Kerala Blasters until he gets the green signal from Motherwell FC. Returning to Kerala Blasters would help Dheeraj Singh learn and improve tremendously. The presence of David James, former Manchester City goalkeeper, will also, undoubtedly, help Dheeraj Singh get better.

Currently, Kerala Blasters’ goalkeepers are all veterans, hence, Dheeraj could get the nod at the starting eleven next season.
