Kailash and Himket’s two goal each gives MS Police 4-2 win
1st March 2018, Mumbai: After earning a hard-fought draw against Western Railway, MS (Maharashtra State) Police rose to the occasion to sink Century Rayon 4-2 in a thrilling MDFA Elite Division clash at Mumbai Football Arena (Andheri), earlier today. The attacking duo of Kailash Pardhi and Himket Dhembre caused havoc as they bagged two goals each to complete a resounding victory against Century Rayon.
Rayon started on a high note. In the 3rd minute, Kashung and Lungling exchanged a couple of passes just outside the box which found his way to Thatcham Vashum’s path who smashed a curling effort into the top corner, leaving MS Police’s goalkeeper Shailesh Naik with absolutely no chance to save the shot.
But MS Police responded positively and more importantly, very quickly. In the 14th minute, left-back Amir Shaikh picked striker Kailash Pardhi with a delicate long ball over the Rayon’s defence, Kailash beautifully controlled the ball and lobbed over the onrushing Rayon’s goalkeeper Nitin Chowdhari.
Three minutes later, Kailash pounced on an error committed by Rayon’s defender, went past a couple of defenders and unleashed a deadly right footed shot past Nitin to make 2-1 in favour of MS Police. This was Kailash Pardhi’s third goal in two games for MSP.
But just like MSP’s positive response, Rayon responded in their very own style. Midway through the first half, Lungling danced past three MSP defenders before sliding his solo effort into the back of the net to level the score at 2-2. Undoubtedly, a neat and clever finish by the number nine of Century Rayon.
MSP never looked back and quickly restored their solitary lead just four minutes after Lungling’s solo goal. Pawan Wagh’s brilliant cross from the left flank was headed by Himket Dhembre’s glancing header who was unmarked inside the box. MSP went into the break with a commendable 3-2 lead.
The game slowed down in the second half. Both the outfits took their time to settle but it was MSP, once again, who made the best out of their chances. Himket Dhembre, whose goal against Western Railway helped MSP to secure a point scored the goal of the match with a 35-yarder effort which comprehensively sailed past goalkeeper Nitin Chowdhari.
MSP went on to shield their two goals lead and registered an important win which helped them to leapfrog KSA at the sixth position in the Elite Division table. MSP has 11 points in 8 games. Their recent form has definitely given them a huge boost as they are looking to book their slot for the next season.
