Holy Family overcome Good Shepherd 2-1
Holy Family ‘A’, Andheri scraped past Good Shepherd ‘A’, Andheri by a narrow 2-1 margin in an thrilling Men’s first round match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana organized 31st Inter-Parish 5-a-side Rink Football Tournament – 2018 for the Victor D’Mello Trophy and played under floodlights at the gymkhana’s tennis courts.
Glen Moraes and Winston D’Silva were bang on target netting a goal each for Holy Family, while Good Shepherd managed to pull one back through Shail Parekh’s strike.
Earlier in an absorbing first round clash, a determined St. Anthony’s ‘B’, Vakola managed to edge past St. Blaise ‘C’, Amboli by a narrow 3-2 margin. Strikers 3 Jonathan Pinto, Deon Rebello and Brendon Pires contributed with a goal each to secure St. Anthony’s victory, while Nigel Pereira netted both the goals for St. Blaise.
In the third match, St. Mary Magdelene, Vasai prevailed over Our Lady of Health ‘A’, Versova 4-2. For the Vasai team Ross Ferreira scored two goals, while Ralph Sirvel and Oliver D’Mello scored one each. Sayresh Bavkar got both the goals for the Versova team.
Results – 1st round: St. Mary Magdelene, Vasai 4 (Ross Ferreira 2, Ralph Sirvel 1, Oliver D’Mello 1) beat Our Lady of Health ‘A’, Versova 2 (Sayresh Bavkar 2).
St. Anthony’s ‘B’, Vakola 3 (Jonathan Pinto 1, Deon Rebello 1, Brendon Pires 1) beat St. Blaise ‘C’, Amboli 2 (Nigel Pereira 2).
Holy Family ‘A’, Andheri 2 (Glen Moraes 1, Winston D’Silva 1) beat Good Shepherd ‘A’, Andheri 1 (Shail Parekh 1).
