GMSC holds Air India U19 0-0

25th February 2018, Mumbai: On Sunday evening, in-form side Air India U19 locked horns against GMSC in Group D of MDFA – Mumbai District Football Association Super Division at Goans Sports Association Ground.

GMSC produced a gritty display which helped them to secure an important point against Air India U19. Though Air India was pretty wasteful in front of goal for throughout the match, GMSC’s defense stood strong to keep them at bay.

Air India made a great start and never looked out of energy. But their poor finishing has surely let them down after a horrendous performance. In the early stages of the match, Captain Sumesh Nair brilliantly played a ball across the goal which Mayur Suvare failed to convert from three yards.

Moments later, Sumesh got a huge opportunity to finally break the deadlock but once again, his untimely effort sailed past the post. The chances kept coming for Air India one after another but it surely was not their day.

Credits where due. Throughout the game, GMSC’s backline played brilliantly. They stood like a wall, tackles were flying in, marking was at its best which helped them to stay in the game. Gaurav More and Rohit Mukul were outstanding for GMSC alongside Cloudios who had a decent game up front.

With this result, Air India U19 failed to close the gap between Millat FC and themselves. Air India is second with 10 points in 4 games while Millat FC is sitting at the top with 13 points in 5 games. GMSC is sixth with two points in 4 games.
