Disappointing results for Maharashtra in National Championship

It has not been a good start to the February month for Maharashtra sides in National Football Championship as both junior men team and Senior Women side faced disappointing results
The Maharashtra Junior men’s team started their National sojourn with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Andhra Pradesh but ended up succumbing to shock 1-3 defeat against Bihar.
In a must win game against group leaders Chandigarh, Maharashtra did well to gain the upper hand by half time with a one goal lead. However, they failed to hold their lead as Chandigarh came back strong to equalise in the dying ambers of the game as the match finished on a 2-2 draw, with both sides taking a point apiece. The draw meant Maharashtra colts bowed out of the BC Roy Trophy 2018 with just 4 points while Chandigarh qualifies for the semi-final with 2 wins and a draw.
While the junior men bowed out of tournament in the group stage the senior women’s side started their National championship campaign on a disappointing note too. In the opening game against tournament favourites Manipur, Maharashtra were handed down a heavy 6-1 loss.
With Manipur having won all their three games, Maharashtra is no longer in contention for the quarter-final spot. However they are now set to face Rajasthan tomorrow before facing Karnataka on the 7th of February. Maharashtra would now look forward to finish off on a winning note.
