Anushakti Nagar SA notches big win while Boxer Football Academy and Castle Boys SC clinches identical victories
3rd February, 2018: Four MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) matches took place yesterday, here, at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. Anushakti Nagar SA thrashed Adarsh FC 5-1 in a 3rd division play-off match in group G whereas in group F Khiladi Connect inflicted Maurya Youngster FA (B) a 1-0 loss. In 2nd division group matches, Castle Boys SC and Boxer Football academy picked up identical 1-0 victories over Godrej & Boyce and Marouli Utd FC respectively in their group.
3rd Div. Group G play-off :.
Anushakti Nagar SA (Prashant 5’ ,15’, 35’,Akshay 35’, Aniket 45’) 5 – 1 Adarsh FC(Akshay Solanki 50’)
It was one hell of an entertaining 3rd division play-off ,group G match, when group toppers Anushakti Nagar SA and Adarsh FC locked horns in their last match . Adarsh Fc in order to qualify was looking for a win by a margin of atleast 3 goals. But it turned out otherwise as Anushakti Nagar thumped past them 5 goals, primarily riding on 3 goals from Prashant Ghughatiyal and one a piece by Akshay Nair and Aniket Kamble. It was thoroughly an entertaining and exciting match as Adarsh FC never looked dogged even after conceding goals.
The 1st goal came in the 5th minute in the form of penalty, as Prashant hold on to a lob by Subham and inflicted foul in the D-box before converting from the spot. Both the teams played with a high backline which caused most of the goals to come from counter-attacks ; and that’s where Anushakti defenders made the difference with better offside traps as most of the opportunities got by Adarsh was ruled offside . Akshay Nair assisted the second to Prashant and scored the third as he took a brilliant run from the left, dribbling across two defenders to shove the ball past the vibrant goalkeeper Ravi Solanki.
Ravi drew attraction as the seasoned custodian tried to play the role of the sweeper coming off his territory many a times to an extent in the second half, when he dodged past couple of Anushakti forwards atleast 10 yards infront of the D box. His adventurous display backfired couple of times as couple of goals could’ve been possibly negated if he stood his ground.Fifth goal was a deserved gift to Aniket, who worked hard through out the match and found the back of the net after Ravi’s save off Rohit Kule found him clear. Ravi the adarsh keeper saved further blushes as he pulled off an incredible penalty save diving to his left coupling with few more saves which could’ve made the scoreline look worse.
The only goal of Adarsh FC came a tad too late, courtesy an individual brilliance by Akshay Solanki , breaking in from right. This result enabled Anushakti Nagar FC to finish on a high at the top of the table in group G with 9 points from 3 games, while Adarsh FC finished in the last place .
3rd Division Play off group F – Khiladi Connect (Mahadev 50+2’) 1-0 Maurya Youngstar F.A. B
In another 3rd division play-off match in group F, Khiladi Connect inflicted Maurya Youngster FA (B) their first loss in this stage, as the solitary goal by Maahadev Mundantre late into the second half was enough to see them romp home. This victory for Khiladi Connect is significant as this win see them leapfrogged to first position from third ensuring qualification to the knockout stage, while Maurya Youngstar’s plan to qualify got jitters as their fate now depends on other matches after finishing third with 4 points from 3 matches .
2nd division group G- Castle Boys S.C (Maxie 65’) 1-0 Godrej & Boyce
Earlier in the day in a 2nd division league match, the group toppers in group G, Castle Boys SC faced off the mid table Godrej & Boyce. Maxie D’Silva winner at the fag end of the match created the only difference between the two sides, as Castle Boys elongated their unbeaten streak to 7 matches. They now sit pretty at the top, with 17 points, while Godrej & Boyce suffered their 5th loss , as they prepare to lose places in standings once other matches happen, with 7 points from 8 matches.
2nd Division group E – Boxer Football Academy A (Janjitwar 55’) 1-0 Marouli Utd. FC
In another 2nd division group E fixture Boxer Football academy A finally saw through their first victory of this season as they peeped Marouli Utd FC 1-0 owing to 55th minute winner by Janjitwar Dyaneshwar This match though produced BFA (A) their first victory but wasn’t enough to improve their standings in group E as they now have 3 points from 6 matches in 8th position, two places below Marouli Utd. FC , who has 6 points in same number of matches.
