Champs Sacred Heart make winning start
Defending champions Sacred Heart ‘A’, Andheri launched their campaign on the perfect track defeating St. Joseph’s, Umerkhadi by a tight 3-2 margin in a keenly contest first round Men’s match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana organized 31st Inter-Parish 5-a-side Rink Football Tournament – 2018 for the Victor D’Mello Trophy and played under floodlights at the gymkhana’s tennis courts, late on Monday night.
In a fast-paced ecounter, Sacred Heart held a sight edge and scored a goal each through Dwij Armarkar, Akshay Chavan and Declan Gonsalves, while St. Joseph’s netted through Pragnesh Solanki and Sergio D’Silva.
In another match, St. Francis DeSales, Nallasopara proved too good for St. John the Evangelist, Marol and romped to an emphatic 5-0 victory. Leading the charge for St. Francis DeSales was striker 5 Royston Fernandes who got a hat-trick, while Sidney Pinto and Aniket Kanojia chipped in with one each.

St. Roque, Vasai 3 (Shashank Lopes, Sandeep Lopes, Rosten Lopes) beat St. Joseph’s ‘B’, Mira Road 2 (Deepak Pal, Gaurav Narkar).
