Valentine Pereira stars in Karnatak SC’s fine victory

21st January 2017: Karnatak SC hosted Star of Canara SC in the 21st Late Ramanath Payyade Memorial Football League Tournament 2016-17 at KSA Ground on Saturday evening. In what turned out to be a goal-fest, Karnatak S.C registered an emphatic 5-2 victory to snatch all three points.

The host started on a bright note after Valentine Pereira opened the scoring in the 10th minute to continue his brilliant form. But Star of Canara S.C replied back with a stunning equalizer when six minutes later Aston Dias made it 1-1 with a sublime finish.

Karnatak S.C showed immense grit in the rest of the first-half and restored the parity through Aditya Swamy’s goal in the 23rd minute. The second-half proved out to be a goal-fest as a total of four goals were put in the back of the net.

Sagar Salian increased the lead by two goals as Karnatak S.C went 3-1 up in the 50th minute. Star of Canara’s Aston Dias once again proved to be the lethal after reducing the deficit to one goal in the 53rd minute.

But Aston’s effort wasn’t enough as Valentine Pereira scored a brilliant goal to make it 4-2 just a minute after Aston’s goal. To complete the resounding victory, Roger Sam scored the fifth and final goal to earn all three points.
